Sweet Sweet Spirit · Doris Akers - Live Performance

The "music-only" video along with lyrics are embedded below

Romans 15:13
Romans 15:13

Hi!

Once again the words to an old Gospel song we sung in church when I was young — were running through my mind— and as with some other similar times — I could only recall the first few words:

"Sweet Holy Spirit,
Sweet Heavenly Dove,
Stay right here with us,
Filling us with Your Love...."

So I did some Internet sleuthing — and discovered MANY, MANY versions it — from Elvis Presley to Conway Twitty, and the Imperials to many current Christian Bands and a capella groups — not to mention that it has been sung in church services all across the country over the years.

Regular visitors to this blog will know I love Southern and Black Gospel music - and found an AWESOME live version of it by Doris Akers — which I've attached below.

Then after some more searching for information about the song — I discovered that Sister Akers is the one who WROTE it!!

God is so Good!

I hope you feel Blessed by this old Gospel song and performance — and that God will flood your heart with his Holy Spirit and LOVE!

Sweet Sweet Spirit · Lyrics

There's a sweet, sweet Spirit in this place,
And I know that it's the Spirit of the Lord;
There are sweet expressions on each face,
And I know they feel the presence of the Lord.

Chorus
Sweet Holy Spirit, Sweet heavenly Dove,
Stay right here with us, filling us with Your love.
And for these blessings we lift our hearts in praise;
Without a doubt we'll know that we have been revived,
When we shall leave this place.

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
