Welcome!

I posted here in August of 2017 about a radio program here in Phoenix, Arizona:

Ms D Soul Hour of Power Gospel Show simulcast on KXEG 1280 AM & 96.1FM.

I haven't had a chance to listen much since then but earlier this morning happened upon a YouTube upload of a recent show of hers.

She played a couple of tracks from the Rev Elijah Baker, Sr, and I loved the second one:

I Never Had It So Good

I love the Soul-Gospel feel, the guitars — and the vocals and backing vocals are sooooo tasty!

It Blesses me so much to listen to this kind of music.

Please give it a spin - I'll bet you'll agree!  : )

Lyrics are posted below.

I Never Had It So Good - Lyrics

I never had it so good,
I never had it so good,

I remember, Oh! Lordy,
When I didn't have a dime,

I remember, Oh! Lordy,
I didn't have shoes on my feet,

But I found a man named named Jesus,
And Jesus came to my rescue,
(That's why we come to church today)

I never had it so good,
I never had it so good,

Repeats

(Let me tell you something - hey)

I used to hear my mother,
Way back down in Louisiana,
She'll be in the kitchen, Yeah!
Cooking up my meal,
She would steal away,
Oh, by herself,
She would go down,
Go down on her knees,
And I could hear her say,

Thank you, Jesus,
Thank you Lord,
Thank you, Jesus,
Thank you Lord!

Repeats

Thanks so much for stopping by!

May God Richly Bless you!

Beautiful Christian Music: Give Your Heart A Home - Steve Green

Galatians 5 - 22 & 23A

Painting: Severin Roesen - Still Life with Fruit - 1852

Hello,

Recently, the first lines of the Gospel Song, Give Your Heart A Home, have been going through my mind:

"I hear your hollow laughter,
Your sighs of secret pain...."

(See the complete lyrics below the "music only" video below)

As I think about the world we now live in — with so much noise and confusion raging in it — this beautiful song speaks to our heart's longing for the true Peace only God can provide.

Although it was originally written and performed by Christian musician Don Francisco, who first came on the Gospel music scene in the 1970's—when I listened to his version now, for some reason, I felt like it wasn't the one I wanted to share here.

So I did some searching and found a version of it by Gospel singer Steve Green.

The lyrics to this song are so beautiful — sung from the heart of Jesus — and Green's performance is gentle and moving — but be advised that it is a rip from an old vinyl record — so there are some clicks and pops related to that — but I didn't think it was enough to ruin it.

If you're too young to remember the "joys" of vinyl records — just ask someone older about what listening to music was like before the digital age.  : )

Anyway — I hope this song Blesses you and fills your heart's longing as only Jesus' LOVE can do!

Give Your Heart A Home - Lyrics

I hear your hollow laughter,
Your sighs of secret pain,
Pretending and inventing,
Just to hide your shame,

Plastic smiles and faces,
Blinking back the tears,
Empty friends and places,
All magnify your fears,

If you're tired and weary,
Weak and heavy laden,
I can understand how,
It feels to be alone,

I will take your burden,
If you'll let Me love you,
Wrap My arms around you,
Give your heart a home,

It hurts to watch you struggle,
And try so hard to win,
But trade your precious birth rite,
For candy coated sin,

Wasting priceless moments,
Restless and confused,
Building up defenses,
For fear that you'll be used,

Take my yoke upon you,
Walk here by my side,
Let me heal your heartaches,
And dry the tears you've cried,

Never will I leave you,
Never turn away,
Lead you through the darkness,
And guide you through the day,

Hi!

Oh...how I love finding good Spirit filled Praise and Worship music—and I was Blessed to just find a gem!

The video posted today is a live recording from a church service featuring Shirley Caesar, and an amazing TALENTED Gospel band and choir performing, Jesus, I Love Calling Your Name!

Watching this just makes me feel SOOOO good—praising Jesus along with it!

So give it a spin—and let the Lord fill you with his gentle Spirit and Love!

Jesus, I Love Calling Your Name! - Lyrics

Jesus (Jesus)

Jesus (Jesus)
Everyday Your name is the same,

Jesus (Jesus)
Jesus (Jesus)
Oh! How I Love Calling Your Name,

(Repeats with embellishments)

When my trouble surrounds me,
And I didn't have to despair,
Lord, You Know, You told me,
That you'll be right there,

It seemed like all my problems,
They'd just begun,
I'm not going to worry about it no more,
They're already won,

Oh! Jesus (Jesus)

LORD Jesus (Jesus)
LORD, I Love to call Your name

Jesus (Jesus)
Jesus (Jesus)
Everyday Your name is the same,

I remember the time,
When I felt so all alone,
Every time I needed Jesus,
All I had to do was call,

I called Him in the morning,
I called Him late at night,
I got down on my knees and called Him,
And He made everything alright!

Jesus (Jesus)

Nobody but Jesus (Jesus)
LORD, I Love calling Your name

Jesus (Jesus)
Jesus (Jesus)
Everyday Your name is the same,

(Repeats)
