CityAlight - Yet Not I But Through Christ In Me

Philippians 4:6-7
--------------------------

Hello!

Recently I heard music from the Christian group CityAlight, who call St Paul's, Castle Hill, Australia home.

They focus on music for the church—as their website declares:

"The sound of a church singing has preceded almost every great revival in church history. The church is God’s witness and representative on earth. Is there any wonder that a tremendous power comes about when the representative voice of God in the earth is singing.

We desire to get out of the way so the truth upon which all our songs are built can properly shine. We pray that the lyrics and melodies of these songs would fix eyes and hearts and minds on Jesus. We pray that our songs might join the many thousands of songs written through history to encourage the church, and when they have played their role, to make way for the next ones. And we rejoice that one day the only name left standing will be the name of Jesus, as it should be.

Yours together in Jesus’ service,
The CityAlight Team"

Below you'll find their live performance video of, Yet Not I But Through Christ In Me—recorded during a worship service at St Paul's.

Lyrics are shown in the video and also included under it.

Whether you have been a Christian for many years—or are only just hearing the call of Jesus the Christ and Messiah—it is always my prayer and purpose with this blog that you will embrace and cling to the fullness of the Lord of lords, and King of kings, Jesus—and grow strong in the understanding and knowledge of the real meaning of His abundant Grace and Mercy He purchased for us through His Love, Sacrifice, and death and resurrection.

Yet Not I But Through Christ In Me - Lyrics
Words and music by Jonny Robinson, Rich Thompson & Michael Farren

What gift of grace is Jesus my redeemer
There is no more for heaven now to give
He is my joy, my righteousness, and freedom
My steadfast love, my deep and boundless peace

To this I hold, my hope is only Jesus
For my life is wholly bound to His
Oh how strange and divine, I can sing: all is mine!
Yet not I, but through Christ in me

The night is dark but I am not forsaken
For by my side, the Savior He will stay
I labor on in weakness and rejoicing
For in my need, His power is displayed

To this I hold, my Shepherd will defend me
Through the deepest valley He will lead
Oh the night has been won, and I shall overcome!
Yet not I, but through Christ in me

No fate I dread, I know I am forgiven
The future sure, the price it has been paid
For Jesus bled and suffered for my pardon
And He was raised to overthrow the grave

To this I hold, my sin has been defeated
Jesus now and ever is my plea
Oh the chains are released, I can sing: I am free!
Yet not I, but through Christ in me

With every breath I long to follow Jesus
For He has said that He will bring me home
And day by day I know He will renew me
Until I stand with joy before the throne

To this I hold, my hope is only Jesus
All the glory evermore to Him
When the race is complete, still my lips shall repeat:
Yet not I, but through Christ in me!

Repeats

When the race is complete, still my lips shall repeat:
Yet not I, but through Christ in me!
Yet not I, but through Christ in me!
Yet not I, but through Christ in me!

Oh, Lord You're Beautiful - Shane And Shane

Psalm 50:1-2

Recently, I was reminded of the late Keith Green's wonderful worship song—Oh, Lord You're Beautiful.

I found a great cover of it by Shane and Shane—a gospel Praise and Worship group from Texas who released their first album in 2002.

I hope this song will Bless you—and cause your heart to join in Praise for our Beautiful Lord and Savior—Jesus the Messiah!

I'm Leaning On You - Robert Blair's Original Fantastic Violinaires

"Music-Only" Video Under Commentary

--------------------------

Hello Brothers and Sisters,

I hope you are doing well today and clinging to the Eternal Hope we have through Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

Though life can be difficult at times—and the Bible tells us that we will experience persecution and firey trials here on earth—but Paul, writing in Romans 5:1-5, declared that trials will produce in us perseverance, character, and hope—and Jesus, in His Beatitudes Sermon, said that when we are unjustly insulted and slandered for our faith—we can rejoice because "great will be your reward in Heaven."

Matthew 5:11 & 12

If you've been at all vocal about expressing your faith in Jesus—you'll likely already know full well about suffering for that.

From family and friends, to work and social media, and sadly even our governments—taking a Christian stand can often mean you will face persecution, rejection, loss of opportunity and employment, and even furious personal and physical attacks.

Webster Dictionary: Persecute (Persecution)

Furthermore, in Ephesians 6:10-18 we are told that "we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places" and that we are to be prepared for this battle by putting on the "Armor of God"—enabling us to "stand firm against all strategies of the devil."  We are also instructed to stay alert and pray at all times

In addition, we can also be disappointed and hurt by those we love.  Sometimes it can be unconscious or unintentional on their part—at other times—due to man's fallen nature—loved ones can be intentionally unkind, cruel, or worse.

Fortunately, Hebrews 13:5-6 tell us that "God has said,

“Never will I leave you;
    never will I forsake you.”

So we say with confidence,

“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?”

The Bible also declares in Psalm 34:18 that "The Lord is near the brokenhearted; he delivers those who are discouraged"—and Psalm 147:3 proclaims the wonderful promise that "God heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds."

So—although it can be difficult to wade through all the difficult trials in our lives—we are to cling to Jesus and His Word.

In John 16:33, Jesus said:  "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Tribulation as defined by Merriam-Webster Dictionary is "distress or suffering resulting from oppression or persecution."

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/tribulation

Also—notice Jesus doesn't say we "might," or "may," or "could" have distress and suffering—He says we WILL.

Thankfully—as Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

So, family of God, take heart as you go through earthly trials—for we serve a living Savior, Jesus!, who cares for us, and will help see us through this life as we Lean on Him.

Spoiler alert:  We are promised a wonderful eternity with our Lord and Savior too!

I'm Leaning On You - Lyrics

I'm leaning on You
Just to see me through

I'm leaning on You
Lord, I need a break-through

Lord, I'm leaning on You
For You know what to do
Oh, God—I'm leaning on You

—Let me say it again

I'm leaning on You
Yes I am—Lord I know
(To see me through)
Oh! I know—that You can help me along the way

I'm leaning on You
Lord, (I know that) I need a break-through

Sometimes I'm down on my knees
Drinking tears
Lord help me please
Oh!  Lord I'm leaning on you

Let me say this right here

Sometimes it get rough
On the way
So I call on you Jesus
Each and every day!

Lord you are my strong tower
If we can run to you
(unable to transcribe)

I'm leaning on You
Just to see me through

I'm leaning on You, Jesus
I ain't got nobody else—but I know
I need a break-through

I'm leaning on You
For You know what to do

I'm leaning on You
'Cause I need a break-through

(I'm leaning on You)
One thing about God—I know He's not like man

(I'm leaning on You)
Man will walk away and leave you

(I'm leaning on You)
But God will stay right by your side

Oh Lord,
I'm leaning on You

Messianic Jewish Praise: Lamb - Jerusalem Descending

Hello Brothers and Sisters!

Today we're going to get in the "way-back machine."

: )

As I've written about before on this blog—in the 1970's the Messianic Jewish band, Lamb was making a big impact on Christian music.

Their songs combined the acoustic rock of that era—seasoned with a pinch of a traditional Jewish sound and feel.

Below you'll find a music-only video of their song from that time, Jerusalem Descending—which speaks to the hearts of Messianic Jews and Christians and our longing for our eternal home—and our love for the Messiah of all—Jesus the Christ—the Lord of lords and the King of kings!

Revelation 1:7a  - Painting: Sebastiano-Ricci - The-Resurrection - 1715

You'll find the Lyrics under the video.

Jerusalem Descending - Lyrics

Yerushalayim (Hebrew: Jerusalem) descending
The city from the sky
Abraham’s dream
And the answer to my cry

For those who love Messiah
A Kingdom is prepared
The citizens are holy
And there’s no weeping there

No more songs of sorrow
No more tails of woe
The pain of all the ages
We shall no longer know

Yerushalayim chadash (Hebrew: New Jerusalem)
All things are made new
As the glory of Yeshua (Hebrew: Jesus) is coming into view

Instrumental Break

For those who love Messiah
A Kingdom is prepared
The citizens are holy
And there’s no weeping there

No more songs of sorrow
No more tails of woe
The pain of all the ages
We shall no longer know

Yerushalayim chadash
All things are made new
As the glory of Yeshua  is coming into view

As the glory of Yeshua is coming into view

Worthy Is The Lamb - Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir

Hi!

On 1-21-19 I posted a music video from the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir:  Psalm 34.

In today's post—you'll find their video of their live performance of the beautiful Praise and Worship song Worthy Is The Lamb.

Other than their music videos—I know nothing else about the church so I'm not necessarily endorsing them—but I simply love their Praise and Worship of our King of kings—Jesus the spotless Lamb of God!

Revelation 5:11-12 - Painting (Detail): The Crucifixion -Anthony van Dyck, produced around 1630

I pray, as you listen, you'll allow the the Holy Spirit to speak into your heart the beautiful love of our Heavenly Father, and you will cling to His abundant and steadfast Mercy and Grace through Jesus His Son!

Lyrics are included in the video—and under it as well.

Worthy is the Lamb - Lyrics

Thank you for the cross Lord
Thank you for the price You paid
Bearing all my sin and shame
In love You came
And gave amazing grace

Thank you for this love, Lord
Thank you for the nail pierced hands
Washed me in Your cleansing flow
Now all I know is Your forgiveness and embrace

Worthy is the Lamb
Seated on the throne
We crown You now with many crowns
You reign victorious

High and lifted up
Jesus, Son of God
The Treasure of Heaven crucified
Worthy is the Lamb

Worthy is the Lamb

Thank you for the cross Lord
Thank you for the price You paid
Bearing all my sin and shame
In love You came and gave amazing grace

Thank you for this love, Lord
Thank you for the nail pierced hands
Washed me in Your cleansing flow
Now all I know is Your forgiveness and embrace

Worthy is the Lamb
Seated on the throne
We crown You now with many crowns
You reign victorious

Throne Room Song - May Angeles & Ryan Kennedy

Hi!

Recently, it's been wonderful to find a lot of new Praise and Worship music that glorifies our Creator and Lord Jesus!

Today's music video does just that—and it's awesome to see in it a church filled with young people gathered together singing Praise to our Lord Jesus with joy and enthusiasm.

Screen Capture From The Video Below

It's my prayer that as you listen you will experience the Blessing of God's Love, Mercy and Forgiveness, Healing, Comfort, and Joy—through the gift of His Perfect Son—Jesus The Messiah and Lord of Life!

The lyrics are embedded in the video and under it as well—and there is a short reference to Keith Green's Oh, Lord You're Beautiful To Me at the song's end.

Throne Room Song - Lyrics

Jesus is in this room
Here right now
Here right now

Making this place I stand
Holy ground
Holy ground

Your Spirit moves and breathes
All around
All around

All good and perfect things
Flowing down
Flowing down

If all of the heavens
Are singing along
With the saints and the elders
In glorious song
And the praises they sing
Never seem to get old
Then I’ll stay here forever
Singing

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord
God almighty, over all
You were, You are, and You’ll be forever
The King, enthroned in glorious splendor

Holy, Holy Lord

Gentle Love calling me
Closer still, closer still
Jesus You’re guiding me
To Your will, to Your will

The veil is torn and the doors fling wide
I see glory, as I run inside
Your throne room, before You, I bow

------

Oh Lord, you're beautiful,
Your face is all I seek,
For when your eyes are on this child,
Your grace abounds to me.
