Christian Worship Music: In Christ Alone

Antonio Ciseri's - Pontius Pilate presenting
a scourged Christ to the people - 1871

Worship song In Christ Alone has a timeless feel to it.  Enough so that some may wonder if it is an old Church Hymn.

But according to an article about it on Crosswalk.com the song was written in 2002 by Stuart Townend and Keith Getty.

It says there "that Townend and Getty both admit they are motivated by the idea of capturing biblical truth in songs and hymns that will not only cause people to express their worship in church, but will build them up in their Christian lives."

This version of the song is sung by Adrienne Liesching & Geoff Moore, and is set to scenes from The Passion Of The Christ.

Listen to the words and let it's message encourage and Bless you!

1 Corinthians 3:11

Jean II Restout: Pentecost - Public Domain

This video was posted by on YouTube.

In it a man named John shares details about his difficult life and what led to his decision to become a Christian.

Screen Capture From The Video
He talks about being the product of a divorced family who left him alone at the age of 17, and how that then led him to experiment with drugs.

Eventually those kinds of  decisions left him feeling even more empty and alone.

But in time, he says, "For me it was like, I'd been in a dark room ...and someone was turning the dimmer on slowly, and I began to see everything in it's entirety in that room."

He began to understand: "Jesus came to heal the broken hearted...and I had a broken heart.  Drugs couldn't do it...and friendships couldn't do it...and I knew only Jesus could heal my heart."

He became a Christian and relates that from that moment onward:  "God has gradually healed certain areas of my life......"

13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

The words of Jesus:

10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
