Gospel Music: Smokie Norful - No Greater LOVE!

Hello!

One thing that makes the internet so awesome and powerful is that you can come across things that you might not in any other way.

For example, someone shared a Gospel song with me that is on SoundCloud.  I have an old account there from YEARS ago...but hardly ever go there.

Anywho...I followed the link and although I wasn't crazy about that song I decided to do a "Gospel Music" search there.

On the first page of that search I listened to Smokie Norful's "No Greater Love" — and KNEW immediately I wanted to share it with you here.

Smokie is a Pastor, Grammy winner and 5 time Platinum Record winner...but he hadn't crossed my radar yet.

You can find out more about him on his website here:  http://smokienorful.com/about/

-------------------

Please give his music below a spin — and let God speak to you about his unfailing Love through it.

Hosanna - Grace Larson (Jimmy Swaggart Singer)

If you would like to know more about the word Hosanna please see the attachment below the video

----------------------------------------

Hi!

I found this video from Jimmy Swaggart's ministry to be very uplifting and moving.

In it — a young Grace Larson heads to the front of the pulpit — and gently begins to sing:

"Let the weak  say I am strong,

Let the poor say I am rich,

Let the blind say I can see,

It's what the the Lord has done in me.

Hosanna, Hosanna, To the Lamb that was slain,

Hosanna, Hosanna, Jesus died and rose AGAIN!

In the river I will wait,

There my sins are washed away,

From the Heaven's Mercy Stream,

Of the Savior's Love for me,

I will rise from waters deep,

Into the saving arms of God,

I will sing Salvation's Song

Jesus Christ has set me free,"

To Chorus

--------------------------------

It is very beautiful to hear this young woman sing and her song left me feeling very peaceful — and praising our wonderful Savior Jesus!

Find Me - Acoustic - Jonathan Helser

Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice, and let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns!” Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall the trees of the forest sing for joy before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth. Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! - 1 Chronicles 16:31–34

Hi!

Today's worship song beautifully strips away all the modern production and backing instrumentation — right down to just one man's voice, accompanied by his acoustic guitar.

The video for "Find Me," sung by Jonathan Helser, perfectly reflects the music as well and creates a wonderful calm that spoke deeply to my spirit.

It was filmed on on "a river where generations of the Helser family have grown up" — and that part of the video alone is absolutely beautiful and inspiring — but the song and performance are truly wonderful as well

Johnathan wrote the lyrics and music and the song is available for purchase through iTunes or the entire album Beautiful Surrender - Jonathan David & Melissa Helser can be found here:

https://shop.bethel.com/collections/bethel-music/products/beautiful-surrender

I hope you will feel the great Love of our Lord Jesus as you check out Johnathan's video as well — and it helps lead you into a deeper relationship with the Creator of the universe!.

Find Me - Lyrics

I fall down upon the ground,
Press my face against the earth,
Till my heart - it rises over my head,

As the wheat it bows down low,
When the autumn wind blows,
I kneel before the One I love,

Find me grateful,
Find me thankful,
Find me on my knees,

Find me dreaming,
Find me singing,
Find me lost in Your Grace,

Like the dust that You first held,
In a garden where You knelt,
Pull me up against Your face again,

Till the breath of Your hope,
Fill the depths of my soul,
Till all I know is I’ve been found by love

Becky Lang - Psalm 27

Photo: Praising God In The Sunset - By JFXie - https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:O_Praise_Him.jpg

Hi!

I first heard this song a few years ago and liked it then.

Today I heard it again for the first time in a while — and wow did it speak to me.

Psalm 27 is sung sweetly and gently by Christian singer Becky Lang — and her website's "about" page reveals the story about how this song came together:

"I have been a worship leader for about ten years now, half of which has been at Hilltop Campus Church in Peoria, Illinois. It was actually in preparation for a worship service that my song, Psalm 27, was birthed. I felt stuck while going through my song books so I asked the Lord what He wanted us to sing that night. I then opened my Bible to Psalm 27 (one of my favorite chapters) and out flowed the song in about three minutes' time.

I strongly feel that the Lord led me to this passage to give a word that the people of this generation so desperately need to have written on their hearts. Where is our confidence in these times when many hearts will fail out of fear? This song is a declaration of faith that we can be completely confident that we will one day see the beauty of the Lord. My hope and prayer is that the Lord would strengthen your hearts and deepen your confidence in Him as you worship with this song.

Blessings and Love,

Becky Lang

The lyrics are provided below the video.

As always I pray this beautiful praise song will Bless you and lead you to our Merciful Father's Love!

Psalm 27 - Lyrics

The Lord is my Light,
The Lord is my Light and my Salvation,
Whom shall I fear,

The Strength of my life,
The Strength in my life,
Of whom shall I be afraid,

In this I will be comforted,
In my Life I look high and see the beauty of the Lord,

One thing,
Only one thing,
Only one thing Jesus,
You're the one thing that I seek,

Beautiful,
Wonderful,
Glorious are you Jesus!

Hi!

My search for great Christian / Gospel Music goes on.

Thankfully of late it seems like I've been finding a lot of really beautiful music to post here.

I much prefer Christian Music that is praise and worship and speaks of God's wonderful nature — and Big Daddy Weave certainly nails that with their song Overwhelmed.

You'll find a video of it below with just lyrics you can follow along to — or if you'd prefer I included them under the video as well.

It's a beautiful praise song and I pray it will Bless you and speak to your heart about God's magnificence and Love!

"Overwhelmed"

I see the work of Your Hands,
Galaxies spin in a Heavenly dance,
Oh, God, All that You are is so overwhelming!

I hear the sound of Your Voice,
All at once it's a gentle and thundering noise,
Oh, God, All that You are is so overwhelming!

I delight myself in You,
Captivated by Your beauty,
I'm overwhelmed,
I'm overwhelmed by You!

God, I run into Your arms,
Unashamed because of mercy,
I'm overwhelmed,
I'm overwhelmed by You!

I know the power of Your Cross,
Forgiven and free forever — You'll be my God,
And all that You've done is so overwhelming!

I delight myself in You,
In the Glory of Your Presence,
I'm overwhelmed,
I'm overwhelmed by You!

God, I run into Your arms,
Unashamed because of mercy,
I'm overwhelmed,
I'm overwhelmed by You!

You are Beautiful,
You are Beautiful,
Oh God, there is no one more Beautiful!

You are Beautiful, God you are the most Beautiful

You are Wonderful, You are Wonderful,
Oh, God, There is no one more Wonderful!
You are Wonderful,
God You are the most Wonderful!

You are Glorious, You are Glorious,
Oh, God, There is no one more Glorious!

You are Glorious, God you are the most Glorious!

I delight myself in you,
In the Glory of your Presence,
I'm overwhelmed,
I'm overwhelmed by you!

God, I run into your arms,
Unashamed because of mercy,
I'm overwhelmed,
I'm overwhelmed by you!

I'm overwhelmed,
I'm overwhelmed by you!

There is no one more beautiful!

God, you are the most beautiful!

AWESOME Praise Music: Shane & Shane - Psalm 46

Romans 14:10b-12 - For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; 11 for it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess[b] to God.” 12 So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.

Hi!

So — wow — sometimes the flood-gates open wide and pour out upon us.

I'd been felling like I wasn't hearing music that really spoke deeply to my heart — and also my tastes.

But today I've found a few — and a praise song by Shane and Shane REALLY hit the mark!

It is sung, arranged and played VERY powerfully and is based off of Psalm 46.

I urge you to give it a listen and let it's message pour into your heart and soul!

You'll find the lyrics below.

 Shane & Shane - Psalm 46 - Lyrics

O come, behold the works of God.
The nations at His feet,
He breaks the bow and bends the spear,
And tells the wars to cease,

O Mighty One of Israel,
You are on our side,
We walk by faith in God who burns the chariots with fire,

Lord of Hosts, You're with us,
With us in the fire,
With us as a shelter,
With us in the storm,

You will lead us,
Through the fiercest battle,
Oh, where else would we go,
But with the Lord of Hosts,

Oh, God of Jacob, fierce and great,
You lift Your voice to speak,
The earth it bows and all,
The mountains move into the sea,

Oh Lord, You know the hearts of men
And still you let them live,
Oh God, who makes the mountains melt,
Come wrestle us and win,
Oh God who makes the mountains melt,
Come wrestle us and win.

Lord of Hosts, You're with us,
With us in the fire,
With us as a shelter,
With us in the storm.

You will lead us.
Through the fiercest battle,
Oh, where else would we go,
But with the Lord of Hosts,

Though oceans roar, You are the Lord of all,
The one who calms the wind and waves and makes my heart be still,
Though the earth gives way, the mountains move into the sea,
The nations rage, I know my God is in control,

Though oceans roar, You are the Lord of all,
The one who calms the wind and waves and makes my heart be still,
Though the earth gives way, the mountains move into the sea,
The nations rage, I know my God is in control,

Lord of Hosts, You're with us,
With us in the fire,
With us as a shelter,
With us in the storm,

You will lead us,
Through the fiercest battle,
Oh, where else would we go,
But with the Lord of Hosts,

I Love You Lord/ We Exalt Thee - Worship Medley - Jared Reynolds

Hebrews 12:28-29 - Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe....

Hi!

I was going through drafts I have waiting in the cue for this blog — but none of the music was really striking my ear.

So I decided to take a break and sign into YouTube.

Right at the top of of my YT "recommendations" was a video from Jared Reynolds singing a Gospel Medley of I Love You Lord/ We Exalt Thee.

Jared is clearly a very masterful pianist and singer and is using his talents for the Lord!

I love his medley and passion — and pray it will Bless you and lead you to God's Mercy and His unfailing LOVE — or if you already know God — bring you His Comfort, Blessings and Strength as you continue your walk with Him!

Pressing On! Alicia Keys

Philippians 3:14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Hi!

I have LOVED Bob Dylan's version of his song "Pressing On" since I first heard it WAY back when.

I've been wanting to post it here — but Dylan and his reps have been very good at keeping tight control over what music of his is found on the internet — and while I'm not faulting him for that — it just makes sharing his amazing music from his "Christian" days a little more difficult.  (A note on Dylan's faith below the video)

In the last year or so I've seen a 2013 documentary a few times about the Muscle Shoals recording scene — that has produced so much GREAT music — from Aretha Franklin to the Rolling Stones, Wilson Pickett to Candi Staton (who later went on to a Gospel career), from Bob Seger to Etta James — and on and on and on!

(Here's a link to a Top 20 List someone put together — of all the songs recorded there:
http://www.al.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2016/12/the_20_best_songs_ever_recorde.html  )

At the end of that documentary — they include Alicia Keys performing a very beautiful version of Dylan's "Pressing On" which I've embedded below.

It starts just with piano and Keys' singing — and adds in a band backing her — and eventually a full choir helping belt out the message!

It's really is WUNNERFUL!

: )

Check it out and let God speak to your spirit about His love and Grace!

Pressing On - Lyrics

2x Well, I'm pressing on,
Yeah, I'm pressing on,
And I'm pressing on,
To the higher calling of my Lord,

Shake the dust off of your feet,
Don't look back,
Nothing gonna hold you down,
There's nothing that you lack,
Temptation's not an easy thing,
Adam gave the devil reigns,
Because he sinned I got no choice,
It runs in my veins,

And I gotta keep Pressing on (chorus as above)

Probably due to time restraints for the documentary — Keys leaves out one verse which I love:

Many try to stop me,
Shake me up in my mind,
Say, "Prove to me that He is Lord,
Show me a sign."
What kind of sign they need when it all come from within,
When what's lost has been found, what's to come has already been?

-------------------------------------------

I have searched the internet looking for answers to what Bob Dylan believes — whether or not he is still a Christian after his very public conversion and three Gospel albums in the late 1970's / early 1980's — and I cannot find anything definitive.

For some reason he has gone almost completely silent on revealing what he believes (at least publicly) - and his songs don't have any overt references to a particular faith since Infidels — which he recorded in 1983 and still hinted at matters of faith.

But I can say — after personally pouring over his Gospel music from that time period — it was written by a person who understood fully what it meant to be a Christian.

The lyrics hold up under Biblical scrutiny and remain a deep and personal testimony to someone writing about their faith — and all it's spiritual triumphs and human trials.

While I am saddened by Dylan's silence — I believe that the Spirit in his music will still speak to people — and it will remain a testament to one man's real conversion and faith.

I pray someday we'll see Dylan in heaven — and meet all the people who we touched and inspired by his beautiful Gospel music.

Come On In This House (Live) - Reverend Melvin Bufford And God's Army

Psalm 122:1 - I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the Lord!”

 Hi!

This song just makes me smile — and even though it's way too short — it's gets my toes tappin' and lifts my spirit when I hear it.

"Come On In This House," was recorded live by the Reverend Melvin Bufford and God's Army, in Brownsville, Tennessee, back in 2004.

The Reverend really is a preacher, and he includes a short biography on his church's website if you'd like to learn more about him:

http://mtsalemchurch.org/about-us/our-pastor/

Having spent WAY too much time in staid and solemn churches — being called to a one in song — where a good time praising our Holy God is promised — sounds great to me!

I wish this song went on and on — but I guess that's what the replay button is for!

: )

Hope this track Blesses you too — and speaks to your heart about the wonderful unfailing Love of Jesus!

The video is "Music-Only" but the lyrics are below if you want to sing along!

Come On In This House - Lyrics

Chorus 2X
Come on in this house,
Of the Lord,
We're going to have a good time,
Good time!

2X Singing and shouting,
Praising His Holy Name,
Going to have a good time!
Good time!

Repeat chorus

2X We welcome You,
In this house,
We're going to have a good time!
Good time!

Good time!

Lauren Daigle - Light Of The World - With Lyrics

Video Embedded Below

------------------------------------------

Hi!

I'd never heard the song posted below—and this doesn't happen very often to me anymore these days—but I got chills and praised God along to its beautiful, reverent, worship of our Lord Jesus as I heard it for the first time!

The video is wonderfully made as well—showing scenes from a movie about the birth of our Blessed Jesus—Emmanuel<—which means God is with us!!

The video also includes the lyrics—which are also beautifully and artfully placed in it.

I'll still include lyrics below the video for those that prefer that.

I hope this beautiful Christian Praise song about our glorious Savior will Bless you and speak to your heart and draw you close to Him!

"Light Of The World" - Lyrics

The world waits for a miracle
The heart longs for a little bit of hope
Oh come, Oh come Emmanuel

The child prays for peace on earth
And she's calling out from a sea of hurt
Oh come, Oh come Emmanuel

And can you hear
The angels singing

Glory to the light of the world
Glory the light of the world is here

The drought breaks
With the tears of a mother
A babies cry is the sound
Of love come down
Come down, Emmanuel

He is the song for the suffering
He is messiah
The Prince of Peace has come
He has come, Emmanuel

Glory to the light of the world
Glory to the light of the world
Glory to the light of the world
Glory to the light of the world
For all who wait
For all who hunger
For all who've prayed
For all who wander
Behold your King
Behold Messiah
Emmanuel, Emmanuel

Glory to the light of the world
Glory to the light of the world
Glory to the light of the world
Behold your King
Behold Messiah
Emmanuel, Emmanuel

The world waits for a miracle
The heart longs for a little bit of hope
O come, O come Emmanuel

Rebecca St James - Breathe - With Lyrics-

Hi!

After posting Royal Tailor's song "Remain" recently—I've listened to it a few more times on this blog.

It turns out that that video/song is part of a "play-list" on YouTube—so as I worked on other things on my PC—it would end—and others from that list would play.

"Breathe" by Rebecca St James played several times—and I remembered hearing it first LONG ago—and how much I liked it then.

So I decided to post it here—and then discovered I'd already had it lined up in my drafts—but as things often go it had gotten moved further and further down that list—until I'd completely forgotten about posting it.

So now that I've been reminded of again—I'll finally share it here at long last.

: )

I pray its gentle message about our need for God's comfort and Grace in our lives will speak to your heart and soul and multiply Peace and Grace from our Lord Jesus—the Savior of the world!!

Breathe - Lyrics

This is the air I breathe
This is the air I breathe
Your holy presence
Living in me

This is my daily bread
This is my daily bread
Your very word
Spoken to me

And I, I'm desperate for You
And I, I'm lost without You
Oh Lord, I'm lost without You
I'm lost without You

This is the air I breathe
This is the air I breathe
Your holy presence
Living in me

Royal Tailor - Remain (Official Lyric Video)

 Hi!

Sometimes I have to hear a song a few times before I "get" it.

"Remain" by Royal Tailor was just like that.

I first heard it a month ago or so—but it didn't speak to me then.

Today however I listened to it a few more times—and it's music and lyrics really found a home in my heart and mind.

It speaks of God's love reaching through the noise of our lives—strengthening us—and remaining with us FOREVER.

Give it a listen—and I pray it will speak to you too—and Bless you and remind you of the tremendous LOVE and Grace we have through the gift of Jesus.

Remain - Lyrics

I know you're feeling weighted down,
It's all on your shoulders,
I know the dreams in your head,
Don't look any closer,

But I'm gonna make you stronger,
Hold on just a little bit longer,
‘Cause I'll be there,
When you feel like you're going under,
I'm gonna be there for you,
Yeah, Yeah,

The sky could fall,
The ground could shake,
The stars burn out,
And seasons change,

The time will pass,
And beauty fade,
But all my love will remain,
All my love will remain,
All my love will remain,

When there's a secret to tell,
It's locked and I'll keep it close,
And when you're walking through fire,
I'll take you to streets of gold,

Yeah, I'm gonna make you stronger,
Hold on just a little bit longer,
‘Cause I'll be there,
When you feel like you're going under,
I'm gonna be there for you,
Yeah, Yeah,

The sky could fall,
The ground could shake,
The stars burn out,
And seasons change,

The time will pass,
And beauty fade,
But all my love will remain,
All my love will remain,
All my love will remain,

And when the world all around you feels out of place,
You can't seem to find a familiar face,
I'm here to remind you my Love remains,
And you know,

The sky could fall,
The ground could shake,
The stars burn out,
And seasons change,

The time will pass,
And beauty fade,
But all my love will remain,

The sky could fall,
The ground could shake,
The stars burn out,
And seasons change,

The time will pass,

And beauty fade,
But all my love will remain,
All my love will remain,
All my love will remain.......

Can We Trust The Bible?

I have a friend who through the years has drifted further and further away from his faith in Jesus.

We've spent more than one meeting where he expressed his disbelief in the Bible—and his increasingly worldly views.

These meetings have always left me feeling very disappointed—and very sad.

Today I wrote him an email which I'll share here.

If there are people more Spiritually mature than I am—who would like to correct any of my assertions using scripture to back it up—I'd love to get those comments.

Anyway—here is my complete letter to him beginning with a response to a comment that he made that the Council of Nicaea was the first to Canonize the books of the New Testament:

---------------------------

Thought I’d do a little research:  According to an entry in Wikipedia* (which has not been disputed) there is no record that the Council of Nicaea (325 AD) ever discussed Biblical Canon.

*Ehrman, Bart (2004), Truth and Fiction in the Da Vinci Code, Oxford University Press, ISBN 978-1-28084-545-1

(Is the blasphemous and completely debunked Da Vinci Code where you got that?)

More importantly Peter wrote in 2 Peter 3:16 that Paul’s writings were already considered scripture while he was alive!

So it’s clear that the early church in the years following  Jesus—already considered New Testament writings scripture.

Then consider again that these original letters were given to Jewish Christian scribes—who painstakingly copied them down with the same diligence they used for the Torah—and disseminated them throughout the early churches.  They just didn’t spring up as Canon in 325.

(He and I had already discussed the process used to copy the Torah—and that if a single mistake was made on a page it was destroyed)

Peter calls his own experience PROPHETIC in 2 Peter 1:16-21:

16 For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” 18 We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.

19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Jesus promised that after he was taken into heaven that “the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you.” John 14:26

2 Timothy 3:5 says that there are those who have the appearance of godliness, but deny its power.  And then Timothy adds to avoid such people.  (In another place the Bible says that not everyone who says “Lord, Lord” will be saved—and that God will say to them I NEVER knew you.)

So does a LIVING God sit weakly in heaven—or does he still operate in HOLY POWER in human affairs and our lives?  Does he still inspire men—his prophets—to look after his word?

It’s very important to remember that to be saved we are told that we must confess Jesus as Lord and that God raised him from the dead. When Stephen was stoned he said he saw Jesus standing at the right hand of God. Acts 7:54-56

So do you REALLY believe Jesus is alive?  To be a Christian you MUST!  Does the analogy of a “telephone game” still apply when prophets “moved by a living God” have been entrusted with his words?

(We'd talked about the "telephone game"—where someone whispers a phrase in someone's ear—and it is passed along—whispered to other people.  Usually when it gets to the end it has changed dramatically)

I have two DVDs that talk about the Bible and how it came to be: The Indestructible Word and The Forbidden Book.  Many Godly men since the days of the apostles gave their blood, sweat, and tears—and even their lives—to translate the beautiful scriptures into English.

The Indestructible Word – Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1ZxGhNfLew

The Forbidden Book - History Of The English Bible: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_f_0gdoFjYg

In the 1300’s for example, Bible translator John Wycliffe was persecuted in his lifetime—even earning a Papal Bull against him.

In the 1500’s William Tyndale was persecuted for translating the Bible from Latin into English. He was eventually strangled to death at the stake and his body was burned for it.

Many others were persecuted, imprisoned, tortured, and burned alive trying to give us the Bible in English.  http://www.historyextra.com/article/feature/murderous-history-bible-translations

In fact, people translating the Bible into other languages still are!  http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2016/march-web-only/why-four-bible-translators-martyred-middle-east-wycliffe-wa.html

This is nothing new as Jesus’ 12 apostles were all (except for John) put to death as well.  http://www.christianity.com/church/church-history/timeline/1-300/whatever-happened-to-the-twelve-apostles-11629558.html

The Bible is filled with scripture that talks about how God’s prophets are persecuted and killed for speaking the truth to the world.

So it comes down to what YOU believe.  Jesus said his sheep know His voice.  Can you hear HIM?

I know—like most of us do—you fill your mind every day with the worlds entertainment, movies, games, TV etc.  But embedded in all of that—is a message from the ENEMY—and COMPLETELY counter to Jesus’.

The Bible says, “Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

"The only way to replace the error of the world’s way of thinking is to replace it with God’s truth, and the only infallible source of God’s truth is His revealed Word, the Bible."

Above quote from: https://www.gotquestions.org/renewing-the-mind.html

This is why it is so very dangerous to doubt the Bible because only through it can we reprogram our minds and lives—and make sure we stay on the narrow way—when the world under the power of its god Satan—is trying it’s best to undermine our faith.

It is up to you of course to believe what you believe—and it is up to you to renew your own mind.  I can only try to share the truth with you and pray the Holy Spirit works in your heart.

Jesus said in John 16:1-11

16 “All this I have told you so that you will not fall away. 2 They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God. 3 They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. 4 I have told you this, so that when their time comes you will remember that I warned you about them.

I did not tell you this from the beginning because I was with you, 5 but now I am going to him who sent me. None of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ 6 Rather, you are filled with grief because I have said these things. 7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 about sin, because people do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.

I’m not perfect and still struggle with many things and am hoping for the day when I will be set free from some of the ones that trouble me the most—and many other faults I’m sure God wants to deal with in my life.

But I believe in a risen Jesus—and that the Bible is His WORD—and we are to study it.

This includes understanding who translated the various versions—what their motives were—what original “scripture” they used for their translations and so on.  All of this is more readily available to us through the internet than any time in history.

Yes—it requires some effort on our part—while the “broad way” which leads to destruction requires nothing but sitting back for the ride.

It Is Well With My Soul - Audrey Assad

4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7

Hi!

Sometimes life can be so confusing and throw so many unfair and outrageous things at us.

This is nothing new to human-kind—as we can read King David's bewildering at times—questions about his life, the enemies surrounding him—and his sometimes baffling circumstances some 2,000 years ago.

Or we can turn to the story of Job—written even earlier—and see his suffering as he lost his worldly possessions and eventually all of his children—and read as he pleads his case with his "friends" and then even with God.

If you've lived any length of time on this earth—there is no doubt you can relate to their suffering.

---------------------

In the late 1800's, Chicago businessman Horatio G. Spafford found himself contemplating the loss of his only son to pneumonia and then later that year his business was nearly destroyed in the Chicago fire.

In 1873 his wife then boarded a ship to Europe with their four daughters—which collided with another vessel and sank leaving only Mrs Spafford as a survivor.

As Mr. Spafford traveled by boat to join his wife in America, he wrote the BEAUTIFUL song, "It Is Well With My Soul."

Recently I found a lovely version of this song by Audrey Assad and decided to share it here.

May it Bless and lift you—and may God's Grace and Love be poured out upon your life!

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
