Josh Garrels - Sisu - Live!

Today's post features Josh Garrels and a video/live performance of his song, Sisu.

Simply seated on a chair, holding a guitar, and leaning into a microphone, Garrels launches into its challenging lyric, metaphorically catapulting listeners through his thoughts and feelings about his earthly experience—from the futility of life without God and a search for meaning without Him—to the realization that God alone is THE ANSWER—and He alone is Truth.

Screen Caps From The Video Below

The song floods the mind and heart with thoughts and phrases that are poetic and engaging, yet deeply moving and profound—building and building until you feel your heart stirred with the unmistakable conclusion that Garrels, like the lost and wandering sheep of Jesus' parable, has been Found at last by our Creator and LORD!

Garrels' lyrics (included under the video), as stated above, ARE challenging—but God's Love and Truth come brightly SHINNING through.

As always, I hope and pray that Garrels' music will speak to you, filling your mind, heart, and spirit with the unmistakable Peace, Comfort, Love, And Blessings of knowing our Risen Lord and Savior—Jesus the Messiah!!

Acts 13:38-39

38 “Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. 39 Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.

Sisu - Live! - Lyrics

By the word and command, mortal man can stand, Son of Man is the manna manifest
In the flesh and the blood, and the bones and the rocks, in the valley of the dead
The dry bones are gonna walk and talk

To the rhythm of the saints y’all, to the rhythm of the saints
And I paint it red to remember the dead, who laid down their lives for the truth

And the seed that is buried takes root, and this ignorant world will have proof
See I remember the sins of my youth, the path and the madness of unrestrained pleasure
The heavier trip it made the heavier debtor
In the deepest of dark without a wing or a feather,
The spiral closed in like a cage
Like a cage

A maze that’s amazing for days turns to rage if the page it refuses to turn
And the hopeless will hope the book burns
When the lesson it returns, but the lesson is still unlearned
See, I yearn to discern if a life can be earned or is given as a gift to the dead

See, I read and I bled and I fed to the full my soul on the sickest of sickness
Seeking the light of a saviors witness, a way that one day that I might forget this

But slave master wont permit this
Cause I’m a hooker I’m his mistress
And when I look for freedom he puts more chains on me
Strangles my hope so that I live like a zombie

What master's house can this be, that when I look for freedom he still deceives me?
What master's house can this be, that when I look for freedom he still deceives me?

If there’s a God I screamed, “Answer me!”
I didn’t expect an answer to be received, Oh no.....

But He received me!

He said

You must die, to be set free, living in the kingdom of God eternally
Open up my eyes so that I could see, and die with a cry revolutionary
Every man and woman is a witness, and we will never forget this
Truth

Undiluted, undisputed, never to be substituted, or uprooted, fully suited for the war
It’s a modernization of a timeless metaphor, and
By the boomerang we bring the beats back more

What for man, do we work exterior to core, or begin this in the spirit of the Lord
Now you could pull the chord, but the people still sing it acapella
Marching to the beat I hear their feet are in the cellar

Fear not the world cannot stop what must begin within you and me
Fire wind, holy hymn, beautiful diadem, hidden within, dyed in
Every colors broken down, harmonize with my eyes spectrum

In the end bleeding into the source, to the wonderful Father of Lights

All the pressure and pain, produces perseverance
Purged by the flames, without interference
Produces a hope, In the glory of God

My God, I am your son, and I know that you will finish the work that you’ve begun
Homespun, grassroots, spontaneously suits the purpose, and we don’t deserve this
Life

He gives life!

You must die to be set free, living in the kingdom of God eternally
Open up my eyes so that I could see, and die with the cry revolutionary
Every man and woman is a witness, and we will never forget this
Truth

You must die to be set free, living in the kingdom of God eternally
Open up my eyes so that I could see, and die with the cry revolutionary
Every man and woman is a witness, and we will never forget this
Truth

Jesus is LORD!

Time is growing short!

Seek Him!

   Romans 10:9-10

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

---------------------------------

If you've made this decision—believed it in your heart and confessed it with your mouth—let God speak to you by reading the Bible—and seek out fellowship with others who also believe.

Pour out your heart to God in Prayer (simply speaking to Him in reverence)—asking Him to reveal Himself to you and to provide for your needs.

Life in Jesus is the best decision you will ever make.

God Bless You!

  1. Jephyr, this was a truly beautiful testimony of this young man's experience, and I have to say that I can empathise with him. I went haywire in my teens, even though my darling father, who died when I was eleven, spoke much about the Lord. After I became born again I wanted to reach out to those who had similar experiences, and found the best way to do this was out in the streets. Many people wanted to know about the Lord but would not come into a church. I loved sharing my testimonies with them, and understanding where they were in life.
God bless you for sharing Jephyr.

    1. Hi Brenda,

I went through similar experience going "haywire" with my faith—although mine lasted well into my adult life. Thankfully God keeps His hand on our lives as it says in Philippians 1:6: "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

It is so wonderful you had a Godly dad—that is such a Blessing too! It is also wonderful that you have directly shared your faith with people. It reminds me of the parable of the wedding feast in Luke 14:15-23, when the servants were told to go out into the "Go out into the streets and the lanes and make the people come in, so that my house may be full."

Thank you as always for your encouraging words. God Bless you too my sister!
