According to a Wikipedia entry—this song (also known as My Life Flows On in Endless Song)—is a traditional Christian hymn written by an American preacher, Robert Lowry (1826 – 1899), who wrote more than 500 hymns—including "Shall We Gather at the River", "Christ Arose!" and "Nothing But The Blood Of Jesus"'

How Can I Keep From Singing - Lyrics

 My life flows on in endless song;

            Above earth's lamentation,

        I hear the sweet, tho' far-off hymn

            That hails a new creation;

        Through all the tumult and the strife

            I hear the music ringing;

        It finds an echo in my soul—

            How can I keep from singing?

        What though my joys and comforts die?

            The Lord my Savior liveth;

        What though the darkness gather round?

            Songs in the night he giveth.

        No storm can shake my inmost calm

            While to that refuge clinging;

        Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth,

            How can I keep from singing?

        I lift my eyes; the cloud grows thin;

            I see the blue above it;

        And day by day this pathway smooths,

            Since first I learned to love it,

        The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart,

            A fountain ever springing;

        All things are mine since I am His—

            How can I keep from singing?

        No storm can shake my inmost calm

            While to that refuge clinging;

        Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth,

            How can I keep from singing?

   Romans 10:9-10

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

---------------------------------

If you've made this decision—believed it in your heart and confessed it with your mouth—let God speak to you by reading the Bible—and seek out fellowship with others who also believe.

Pour out your heart to God in Prayer (simply speaking to Him in reverence)—asking Him to reveal Himself to you and to provide for your needs.

Life in Jesus is the best decision you will ever make.

God Bless You!

  1. Lovely song Jephyr, and very comforting verse about not being anxious. It is only the enemy that tries to take our focus off the Lord, and we must not forget that trials strengthen us.
    God bless you and yours Jephyr.

    1. Amen, Brenda — I certainly find that to be true. Not keeping our focus on God does indeed create anxiety. I've been reading James and 1 Peter and both are filled with encouragement to hold steadfastly to our faith in Jesus and that our trials strengthen and prepare us for service in this life and offer a great reward in the next. Go is so faithful and good! God Bless you and your loved ones, dear sister.
