Larry Norman - Sweet Sweet Song of Salvation - Live Acoustic

Video included under brief commentary:

----------------------------

Hello Brothers and Sisters,

The late Larry Norman is rightly credited as a pioneer of the Jesus rock movement in the late 1960's and 70's.

According to an entry on Wikipedia, he recorded more than 100 albums—before he went to his eternal reward in 2008.

The first time I encountered Norman's music was on an old vinyl record my mom ordered from a Christian rally, Explo 72, that aired on TV at that time.

Some in the press then called that event the "Christian Woodstock, and it "drew more than 80,000 college and high school students to the Cotton Bowl stadium in Dallas, Texas in 1972 [during the] height of the Jesus Movement."

Recorded at that rally and included on the album—Norman's rendition of his original Gospel tune, Sweet Sweet Song Of Salvation—featured just his solo voice and guitar—was loose and joyful—and it definitely made an impression on me back in the day.

Recently, I discovered a video of him reprising that performance at a little church in London, Ontario, Canada in 1993—and you'll find it embedded below.

His performance is a wee bit understated due to some pretty serious health issues he was having—but evidence of his humor and some of his "rocker" personality were still present (especially as he warms up towards the end)—and best of all his faith in and love for Jesus comes shinning through.

-------------------------------

I pray that Norman's music will Bless you and that you will allow the Lord of lords and King of kings, Jesus, the spotless Lamb of God, to flood his Light and Love into your heart and life!

Sweet Sweet Song of Salvation -  Lyrics

When you know a pretty story
You don't let it go unsaid
You tell it to your children
As you tuck them into bed
And when you know a wonderful secret
You tell it to your friends
Tell them that a lifetime filled with Jesus
Is like a street that never ends

Sing that sweet sweet song of salvation
And let your laughter fill the air
Sing that sweet, sweet song of salvation
Tell the people everywhere
Sing that sweet, sweet, song of salvation
To every man and every nation
Sing that sweet, sweet song of salvation
And let the people know that Jesus cares

Take a look around you as you sing it

There are people everywhere
And to those who stop to listen
Your sweet song becomes a prayer
So if you know a wonderful secret
Tell it to your friends
Tell them that a lifetime filled with—you know who
Is like a street that never ends

Sing that sweet, sweet song of salvation
And let your laughter fill the air
Sing that sweet, sweet song of salvation
And tell the people everywhere

Sing that sweet, sweet song of salvation
To every man—every nation
Sing that sweet, sweet song of salvation
And let the people know that Jesus cares

Thanks so much for stopping by—

May God Richly Bless you!

Jesus is LORD!

Time is growing short!

Seek Him!

-------------------------------------------

   Romans 10:9-10

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

---------------------------------

If you've made this decision—believed it in your heart and confessed it with your mouth—let God speak to you by reading the Bible—and seek out fellowship with others who also believe.

Pour out your heart to God in Prayer (simply speaking to Him in reverence)—asking Him to reveal Himself to you and to provide for your needs.

Life in Jesus is the best decision you will ever make.

God Bless!
