AWESOME Praise Music: Shane & Shane - Psalm 46

Romans 14:10b-12 - For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; 11 for it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess[b] to God.” 12 So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.

Hi!

So — wow — sometimes the flood-gates open wide and pour out upon us.

I'd been felling like I wasn't hearing music that really spoke deeply to my heart — and also my tastes.

But today I've found a few — and a praise song by Shane and Shane REALLY hit the mark!

It is sung, arranged and played VERY powerfully and is based off of Psalm 46.

I urge you to give it a listen and let it's message pour into your heart and soul!

You'll find the lyrics below.

 Shane & Shane - Psalm 46 - Lyrics

O come, behold the works of God.
The nations at His feet,
He breaks the bow and bends the spear,
And tells the wars to cease,

O Mighty One of Israel,
You are on our side,
We walk by faith in God who burns the chariots with fire,

Lord of Hosts, You're with us,
With us in the fire,
With us as a shelter,
With us in the storm,

You will lead us,
Through the fiercest battle,
Oh, where else would we go,
But with the Lord of Hosts,

Oh, God of Jacob, fierce and great,
You lift Your voice to speak,
The earth it bows and all,
The mountains move into the sea,

Oh Lord, You know the hearts of men
And still you let them live,
Oh God, who makes the mountains melt,
Come wrestle us and win,
Oh God who makes the mountains melt,
Come wrestle us and win.

Lord of Hosts, You're with us,
With us in the fire,
With us as a shelter,
With us in the storm.

You will lead us.
Through the fiercest battle,
Oh, where else would we go,
But with the Lord of Hosts,

Though oceans roar, You are the Lord of all,
The one who calms the wind and waves and makes my heart be still,
Though the earth gives way, the mountains move into the sea,
The nations rage, I know my God is in control,

Though oceans roar, You are the Lord of all,
The one who calms the wind and waves and makes my heart be still,
Though the earth gives way, the mountains move into the sea,
The nations rage, I know my God is in control,

Lord of Hosts, You're with us,
With us in the fire,
With us as a shelter,
With us in the storm,

You will lead us,
Through the fiercest battle,
Oh, where else would we go,
But with the Lord of Hosts,

Video & Story: Modern Day Jonah Spends Three Days Trapped In Sunken Boat

Video Below

--------------------------

Psalm 69:13-14

13 But I pray to you, Lord,
    in the time of your favor;
in your great love, O God,
answer me with your sure salvation.
14 Rescue me from the mire,
    do not let me sink;
deliver me from those who hate me,
    from the deep waters.

------------------------

Hello,

I first heard about this amazing story back in December of 2013—and I was reminded of it again recently.

An Associate Press article I found on Fox News explains it succinctly:

------------------------

Entombed at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean in an upended tugboat for three days, Harrison Odjegba Okene begged God for a miracle.

The Nigerian cook survived by breathing an ever-dwindling supply of oxygen in an air pocket.

As the temperature dropped to freezing, Okene, dressed only in boxer shorts, recited the last psalm his wife had sent by text message, sometimes called the Prayer for Deliverance: "Oh God, by your name, save me. ... The Lord sustains my life."

Fox News
----------------------

While Harrison prayed in the freezing, pitch black of the sunken vessel—100 feet underwater—a team was dispatched above for a "recovery operation" to retrieve the ship's crew's bodies—taking them about 72 hours to get to the site.

Then as a rescue diver—who was in contact with the crew above and video taping his progress—made his way through the dark, murky water looking for bodies—suddenly the diver saw a hand reaching out to him—and it grabbed hold of him— giving him a good fright.

----------------------

Harrison had been found—and what was a recovery operation now became a rescue mission—and the team now had to figure out how to get the cook back to the surface.

Eventually they were able to get a breathing mask to him—and could then move him to a submersible.

Harrison had survived but his skin was badly damaged by three days in salt water—and he'd had nothing to eat or drink except for one soda pop.

But God had sustained Harrison—keeping his mind calm—and filling him with hope to keep holding on in the icy blackness.

He needed to spend 60 hours in decompression chamber—and for anyone wondering as I did:  Had he panicked and tried to swim to the surface—air expanding in his lungs would have killed him.

---------------------

If you're like me, as you watch the video, you'll feel yourself short of breath imagining being there.

A quick note about the diver's voice:  The diver is using a mixture of helium and oxygen.

--------------------

Another very good article about the story can be found here:

---------------------

A commenter on the video below added the following information:

"I read up a bit on this, and the long list of occurrences that allowed Harrison to survive are pretty mind-blowing.

First, he just happened to be going to the bathroom when the ship flipped and sank. Everyone who was in the sleeping quarters where Harrison slept died.

He happened to get pushed by the running water towards a high and enclosed point in the middle of the ship, which is believed to be the only point where a large, stable air bubble formed.

Given the dimensions of the air bubble, he actually should have died of CO2 poisoning from his own exhaling after about 30 hours, but he kept jumping back into the water to search for supplies which disturbed the surface of the water and caused it to absorb more CO2 (he had no idea he was doing this at the time).

Also, one of the worst aspects about his situation, the fact that he was 100 feet underwater, is actually what caused the air to be compressed enough where that small room could keep him alive. If he had only gone down 15 feet, he only would have had about 25 hours or so of air.

It is quite an amazing set of circumstances."

-----------------------------

Hope you find the video below as fascinating as I did—and let it remind you that God answers even when it seems hopeless:

Beautiful Christian Music: Randy Stonehill -Beyond The Veil

The Music Only Video Follows The Commentary Below

1 Peter 4:12-19 - New International Version (NIV)

Suffering for Being a Christian

12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on
you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.

13 But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so
that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.

14 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for
the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

15 If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind
of criminal, or even as a meddler.

16 However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise
God that you bear that name.

17 For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And,

“If it is hard for the righteous to be saved,
what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”[a]

19 So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.

-----------------------------------------

Hi!

In the scripture above, Peter writes about "suffering for being a Christian" and compares it to being like a "fiery ordeal" that comes upon us" leaving us feeling as though as if "something strange" is happening.

King David's cries to the Lord recorded in Psalms show us that even a "man after God's own heart" can wonder about the troubling ordeals he faced.

Knowing these times, are nothing but a moment when compared to a glorious eternal life with God in heaven can help us, and as God says in Revelation 21:4: ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Nevertheless, there are periods on this earth when our journey can be so strange, painful and confusing.  When we struggle to pray wondering if we are being heard.  When things can seems so endlessly dark.  When illness invades our lives and we search for healing and some kind of meaning to make it all make sense.

Christian artist Randy Stonehill wrote a beautiful song that expresses, as David did over 3,000 years ago, that we can often find our faith mixed with confusion as we journey through this life.

In his song, called "Beyond The Veil," Stonehill acknowledges this dichotomy, while also giving a clear expression to knowing that now we can only see in a mirror dimly, but someday we will see Him face to face!

(1 Corinthians 13:12)

With that in mind, no matter what you are going through, I hope and pray that this song will speak to your heart and Bless you!

Thank you for stopping by!

(Lyrics below)

BEYOND THE VEIL

The fiber of this life is paper thin
A spider's web can be torn by a shift in the wind
And the mirror pool is shattered when you toss a pebble in

CHORUS:
And I'm not afraid to admit that I'm afraid
Bewildered by the great and the terrible way we're made
Oh that my eyes could shed these scales
I can almost make out the shape of a face
Just beyond the veil

Questions crowd my heart and will not pass
My prayers are lost in silence and the sky is like brass
But I'll stay on my knees until my answer comes at last

CHORUS

BRIDGE:
Closer to the flame
We drink our cup of pain
And it burns us to the bone
In the fire we find a strength
Greater than our own
Than our own

Are You Ready? Awesome Christian Music: Sharon Brock - Getting Ready To Go

The Last Judgment - Michelangelo - Sistine Chapel (public domain image)
The Last Judgment - Michelangelo - Sistine Chapel (public domain image)

Hello!

I've scoured the internet and found almost nothing about this woman...but love this song.

"Getting Ready To Go" sung by Sharon Brock really got my toes a tappin', my hands clappin', my soul a'flyin', and my spirit a'soarin'.  :)

If you're a Christian aware of the signs of the times we're living in, then you'll probably amen the powerful message in it too!

Hope you enjoy this track as much as I do.

(Music only video - lyrics below)

Matthew 24 (NIV)

(the end times)The Day and Hour Unknown
36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

Sharon Brock - Getting Ready To Go - Lyrics

There’s a remnant of people all around this earth,
Washed in the blood with the brand new birth,
Been to the water, Been Baptized, Filled with the Holy Ghost, Sanctified,
Diggin’ in the good book every day,
Prayin’ in the spirit, Building up their faith,
Telling that sinner what’ll save their soul,
Listening for the trumpet, For they’re ready to go,

Said, Oh my Lord, Getting ready to go,

Chorus:  Getting ready to go to a city far beyond the sky,
To a supper for the groom and his chosen bride,
Saints have been waiting for oh so long,
We’re comin’ home, Swing those Pearly gates open wide,
There’s a stirrin’ in my soul,
Getting ready to go,

In the midnight hour we can hear the sound,
We’ll all go home and we’ll leave the ground,
We’ll be changed in the twinkling of an eye,
To be with Jesus, by and by,

Heaven is a waitin’ for all the redeemed,
It’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen,
Well I can feel the stirrin’ in my soul,
It’s just about time and I’m ready to go,
Said, Oh my Lord, Getting ready to,

Are you ready,
Are you ready………………….

Thank you for stoppin' by!  :)

God Bless!

Duck Dynasty Star Jase Robertson Speaks About His Christian Faith

Screen Capture: Duck Dynasty's Jase Robertson interview on the Oklahoma Christian University Campus

A&E Reality TV's  Duck Dynasty family has become fabulously wealthy from selling duck calls from their Louisiana home...and now the TV show has added world wide fame to their fortune.

In this day and age...that is not an uncommon story...what makes them unique is the family's outspoken Christian beliefs.

Recently I've posted videos by patriarch Phil Robertson (3-15-13), and the driving force behind the family's success, son Willie (1-5-13), speaking about their faith.

Now younger brother Jase Robertson adds his voice to his famous Dad and brother's, and pulls no punches when it comes to his faith in Jesus.

Check out this video/interview with Oklahoma Christian University president John deSteiguer:

Duck Dynasty Patriarch Phil Robertson Shares What Brought Him To Faith In Jesus

Duck Dynasty Patriarch Phil Robertson
Duck Dynasty Patriarch Phil Robertson - Screen Capture From The Video

Hello!
Recently I posted a video of Duck Dynasty's Willie Robertson speaking at his alma mater, Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas...sharing about seeing first hand the many pitfalls that life, fame and fortune can bring...and about his own faith in Jesus.

http://godsbigshow.blogspot.com/2013/01/duck-dynasty-star-willie-robertson.html

For those not familiar with Duck Dynasty, it's an A & E Cable Channel reality program that follows the Louisiana based Robertson family, who've found huge financial success selling duck calls.

Family patriarch Phil Robertson spent 25 years making them from Louisiana cedar trees in a dilapidated family shed, and then son Willie turned his father's labors into a thriving business.

In today's video, Phil Robertson talks about his rough edged early life running a bar, and how he eventually became a Christian....and what his faith means to him.

Christian Music Video: Big Daddy Weave - Redeemed

Question: "What is the meaning of Christian redemption?"

Answer:    Righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe........

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified
freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Big Daddy Weave - Redeemed - Christian Music Video (Screen Capture)

Hello!

I just discovered this video and really like the song...hope you do too!

Big Daddy Weave - Redeemed - Christian Music Video (Screen Capture)

Lyrics below.

Seems like all I could see was the struggle
Haunted by ghosts that lived in my past
Bound up in shackles of all my failures
Wondering how long is this gonna last
Then You look at this prisoner and say to me "son
Stop fighting a fight it's already been won"

I am redeemed, You set me free
So I'll shake off these heavy chains
Wipe away every stain, now I'm not who I used to be
I am redeemed, I'm redeemed

All my life I have been called unworthy
Named by the voice of my shame and regret
But when I hear You whisper, "Child lift up your head"
I remember, oh God, You're not done with me yet

I am redeemed, You set me free
So I'll shake off these heavy chains
Wipe away every stain, now I'm not who I used to be

Because I don't have to be the old man inside of me
'Cause his day is long dead and gone
Because I've got a new name, a new life, I'm not the same
And a hope that will carry me home

I am redeemed, You set me free
So I'll shake off these heavy chains
Wipe away every stain, 'cause I'm not who I used to be

I am redeemed, You set me free
So I'll shake off these heavy chains
Wipe away every stain, yeah, I'm not who I used to be
Oh, God, I'm not who I used to be
Jesus, I'm not who I used to be
'Cause I am redeemed
Thank God, redeemed

God's Big Show!

My friend Val uses the phrase "God's Big Show" when writing about our lives as Christians.

It says so much!!

I love the phrase and asked her if I could use it as a blog title and she graciously said yes

Thank you Val!

----------------------------

2-20-2020 Update:

I just discovered that God's Big Show may have also been originally coined by explorer and and author John Muir — who was known as the "Father of the US National Parks."

In a paper, Kelly Boyte Brill shares:

Famed writer, Ralph Waldo Emerson "spent only one day with Muir, and offered him a teaching position at Harvard, which Muir declined.  Muir later wrote, 'I never for a moment thought of giving up God's big show for a mere professorship.'"

Brill continues, "God’s big show, God’s works in nature, became John Muir’s life purpose.  He found God in nature, and wanted other people to have that same experience.

Like music, nature is a portal to the divine. For many people, spending time in nature is the surest, quickest way to feel connected to God."
