Shepherd of my Soul - Jamie Page

Christian Music: Shepherd of my Soul - Jamie Page

I have a small personal connection with the 'music-only' video found below:

When I was just a boy (maybe around eight or so) — I remember going to a birthday party for another young kid around my age.

Of That Methodist Church Performance)
His name was Jamie Page.

I don't recall now how I knew him - but we probably met through school or perhaps the stately old Methodist church my family attended when I was that age.

If my memory serves me correctly — his family lived on the west side of our little town — and while I don't remember much about them — they all seemed like good people.

One thing I do remember well — was thinking that young Jamie was a carbon copy of his dad — and it seemed like they had a very close bond.

I guessing that his family didn't live in the area long — because other than his birthday party I don't really remember spending much time around him — so I think they moved away shortly after that.

Later, when I was in high school, word came around that he was going to perform a concert at the Methodist church with his Christian band — Jamie Page And A Band Called Jerusalem.

As I recall, his band had a lot of members and played in a soft Christian rock/pop style — and I think we might have spoken briefly after they performed, but all that is left after all these years is a very dim memory about that.

Even though I obviously didn't know him well — I've thought of Jamie through the years — and wondered from time to time if he had kept making Christian music.

That Album Cover

Quite a few years ago — when the internet was becoming a more reliable place to look for info, I did a search for him — but all I found then was a photo of an album cover from that early band (as seen in the image to the left).

In the last few days, something reminded me of him again and so I did some more internet sleuthing and was happy to find out a LOT more about him on his website — and through his site discovered his beautiful song, Shepherd of my Soul, which you'll find posted below.

It looks like he's had a good life surrounded with family and friends — a wife and children — and he's still making Christian music with his latest project, Joy In The Journey, released December of 2019.

Shepherd of My Soul - Lyrics

O how You love me
O how you long for me
Eyes that keep searching when I’m lost and alone
O how You call me; O how You cry for me
Your gentle voice beckons so I can find my way home

Shepherd of my soul
I am safe and secure in Your fold
When in darkness I can’t see
Your light shines around me
Shepherd of my soul

O how You calm me
O how You comfort me
Peace never-ending when I’m weary and worn
O how You keep me
O how You care for me
Grace that brings healing when I’m broken and torn

Chorus

Surely Your goodness and mercy shall follow me all my days
And I will dwell in the house of my Savior forever

Chorus

May God Richly Bless you!

Jesus is LORD!

Time is growing short!

Seek Him!

   Romans 10:9-10

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

---------------------------------

If you've made this decision—believed it in your heart and confessed it with your mouth—let God speak to you by reading the Bible—and seek out fellowship with others who also believe.

Pour out your heart to God in Prayer (simply speaking to Him in reverence)—asking Him to reveal Himself to you and to provide for your needs.

Life in Jesus is the best decision you will ever make.

God Bless You!

  1. Hi Jephyr,
beautiful words in this song, and lovely scripture included. It speaks perfectly to how the Lord has been in my life, and I am sure the lives of all who are in Christ. Nice that you knew Jamie as a child, sometimes there are many links with one another in our lives. God bless you and yours Jephyr.

    1. Hi Brenda, I'm so glad you enjoyed this one too. Yes, God is so good about connecting us — and in this case, I just re-read the words to the second verse — it struck me how appropriate the words were for this particular time in our world. God Bless you, Brenda!
