Ulf Christiansson - Like a Thief in the Night

1 Thessalonians 5:2-6 -  Photo:  "Breath Of The Creator" - ©  Jephyr

Hello!

Today we're going to do some Holy rocking on God's Big Show!

-------------------------

In 1982—Christian singer Ulf Christiansson roared out of Sweden with his solo album In My Dreams.

Earlier—Ulf founded the Christian band "Jerusalem"—which is considered "one of the first to combine Christian lyrics with a hard rock and heavy metal sound."

--------------------------

The first track on Ulf's "In My Dreams" was called Like a Thief in the Night—a reference to Biblical exhortations for Christians to remain sober and vigilant—waiting for the Jesus' return so it does not catch us unprepared—since we know neither the day or the hour.

Bible verses:  "Thief in the night."

--------------------------

While, sometimes "popular" Christian music of that era tended to tread lightly about using the name of Jesus—Ulf's Thief In The Night plainly speaks the name of Jesus Christ—and the singer's desperate need for His Grace and Salvation after a life-time seeking everything else in the world—and finding nothing but emptiness.

Thief In The Night begins gently enough—but soon builds to a rockin' finale!

Enjoy!

Like A Thief In The Night - Lyrics

When silence speaks—in empty streets,
Another day is done,
And the creeping cold of night,
Fills every breath,

And one by one,
The lights go out,
And bodies laid to rest,
The burdens of another day are through—

In the distance—sirens steal the peace,
But that's another world,
It is quiet—it's still,
It is the night—

He'll come just like a thief in the night!
He's coming just like a thief in the night,
He'll come just like a thief in the night,
He has come like a thief in the night,
Oh! Like a thief in the night,

I've throw away—every chance,
Been a loser—been led to dance,
I've sought this spot in vain—because the truth remained the same,
Out of reach,
Yes, the truth seemed to be—for me just out of reach—

I was captive—in a trance,
But I've wakened—to my chance,
In my darkest night I found—JESUS CHRIST the SOLID GROUND,
My only chance—
When I reached my tether's end—then I found my only friend was JESUS CHRIST!!

A lifetime's gift, My life of ruin....
The captive threads of my own doing,
But Jesus saved my sinner's soul,
Gave my life a brand new start,
So I'm bound Heaven!

Yes! He sorted out the mess, Gave me Peace and Rest,
Now I'm bound for Heaven!

He took away my night-time fears,
And for all the coming years,
I'll live in Heaven!

He's coming like a thief in the night!

Romans 10:9-10

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Paul Clark - Good, Good Morning

Gustave Doré Painting - 1883 - (unfinished)
 --------------------------------------

Hello!

Paul Clark In A Snapshot Probably
Taken In The Early To Mid 1970's

Years ago—when I lived in a college town in Northern Colorado—a Gospel singer named Paul Clark used to put on concerts there—and I went to several.

Clark was just beginning his rise in Christian Rock then—and is now considered a pioneer of that era.

His early music leaned a bit towards acoustic soft-rock—but around the time I saw him in concert he was embracing more and more of a soft-jazz-rock style popular at that time.

-----------------------------------

Scott Bachman, writing on his blog, gives a very detailed account about Clark's musical history to the present if you'd like to learn more about him:

 -------------------------------------

One of Clark's songs from his album Drawn To The Light (1982), "Good Good Morning," has stuck with me all these years—and so I've decided to share it here.

Lyrics are included under the "music-only" video below.

--------------------------------------

Hope this song Blesses you and fills your heart with a reminder of God's peace and love.

Paul Clark - Good, Good Morning - Lyrics

A light in my eyes,
Crystalline morning is dawning—in my room,

Hands to the skies,
My heart is open like a flower—in full bloom,

So clean and so pure,
You are with me that's for sure,

Good, Good morning, My Lord,
This day—I'll live for you,

Breakfast in bed,
My heart is feasting on the bread and the butter of your Word,

Now that I'm fed,
I'm ready to give of the Treasures that I've heard,

Use me this day,
So others can say,

Good, Good morning, My Lord,
This day—I'll live for you,

Evelyn Turrentine-Agee - Come Back Home

Luke 15:11-32 - Painting: The Return of the Prodigal Son - Pompeo Batoni - (1773)
-----------------------------------------------

Hello!

It's a real Blessing knowing Jesus!!

Although, many Christians have their own "prodigal child" experiences—being lured by the media, movies, TV, popular culture, politicians, celebrities, friends, school, and so on—leading them to question their faith and walk head-long into the world and embrace its standards, customs, and practises.

Fortunately God is good—and constantly speaks into the heart of His beloved children—who are called by His Name—gently calling them to return home!

----------------------

Today's Gospel song (in the music/only video below) speaks to the prodigal heart's longing to return to the Grace and Love of our beautiful Savior, Jesus.

Found on her album, "It's Already Done," let Evelyn Turrentine-Agee's track, Come Back Home, speak to your heart—and remind you of His Love and Forgiveness—no matter where you are on your journey with the Lord!
