Lamb - Baruch Hashem

Psalm 113:2-4

Hi!

I've published music from Lamb, a pioneering Messianic Jewish band at least twice before on this blog.

6-30-18 — Lamb - Psalm 23
7-31-12 — Lamb - The Sacrifice Lamb

--------------------------------

Messianic Jews believe Jesus is their Lord and Messiah.

--------------------------------

When I was a kid I had a copy of Lamb's album, "Favorites" which featured a selection of their best songs.

Although I was a high mountain kid, born into Anglo-American stock, there was something about Lamb's music I loved (and still do).

Baruch Hashem (Blessed is the Name) was one of the tracks on that album and I listened to it over and over without really knowing exactly what it meant — but something (or rather Some-ONE) spoke to my heart and spirit though it.

Now with the help of Internet I know precisely what they were saying in their lyric (found below).  It is a song of worship and praise to our Lord Jesus — and our Father — the Creator of the Universe!

I pray you will enjoy this track too — and let God fill your life and heart with His Love, Peace, Comfort, Healing, and Joy!

Baruch Hashem - Lyrics

The heart of the Jew is Jerusalem
The Messiah his only King
And when in the soul of a Jew He reigns
Peace to the city he brings

Baruch Hashem ha Mashiach, Yeshua *
(Blessed is the Name of the Messiah, Yeshua)

Baruch Hashem, Adonoi! **
(Blessed is the Name of the Lord)

Behold the son of Abraham
Sent by God our people to redeem
When He came forth in Bethlehem
I heard the angels sing

Baruch Hashem ha Mashiach, Yeshua
(Blessed is the Name of the Messiah, Yeshua)

Baruch Hashem, Adonoi!
Blessed is the Name of the Lord)

Bless His name for His name is good
Yeshua ha Mashiach is the name I love
Bless His name for His name is good
Sanctified us by His blood

Now we drink His wine of joy
Filled with the Spirit of Adonoi
United in the love Messiah brings
Now we sing to Elohim (God)

Baruch Hashem ha Mashiach, Yeshua
(Blessed is the Name of the Messiah, Yeshua)

Baruch Hashem, Adonoi!
Blessed is the Name of the Lord)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yeshua

Yeshua was a common alternative form of the name in later books of the Hebrew Bible and among Jews of the Second Temple period. The name corresponds to the Greek spelling Iesous, from which, through the Latin Iesus, comes the English spelling Jesus.

The name of God most often used in the Hebrew Bible is the Tetragrammaton (YHWH יהוה‬).

It is frequently anglicized as Jehovah and Yahweh and written in most English editions of the Bible as "the Lord" owing to the Jewish tradition viewing the divine name as increasingly too sacred to be uttered.

It was thus replaced vocally in the synagogue ritual by the Hebrew word Adonai, which was translated as Kyrios (“Lord”) in the Septuagint, the Greek version of the Hebrew scriptures.

Hello,

I found this "Messianic Jewish" song, Psalm 23 by Ted Pearce a long time ago.  (find the "music-only" video below)

I got as far as embedding the video into this blog post...and creating a title for it...but it's langished as a "draft" for quite a while.

Today, I was going through old blog posts and opened this one up to remind myself what the song was.

After hearing it again...I wondered...what's taken me so long to finally publish this??!!

The song and music are peaceful and gentle, and the lyrics are taken straight from the ESV version of Psalm 23.

I hope you will give it a listen and be as Blessed as I am by it!

Thank you for stopping by!

May God RICHLY Bless you!

Messianic Jewish Music: The Sacrifice Lamb

Music Only Video Embedded Below

-------------------------------

To really understand Christianity...one must understand it from within the framework of its Jewish history.

Jan van Eyck "Ghent Altarpiece", 1432
Detail: the lamb
Jesus, Jewish by birth, brought his message to "his" people first.  All of his disciples were Jewish and Paul, who is credited with writing a large portion of the New Testament was a Pharisee, a strict, high ranking order among the Jewish people of his day.

The early Christian church was often made up largely of converted Jews, but many also rejected Jesus as their messiah.

At the same time, Christianity spread among the Gentiles (non-jews) to the point that today some Christians don't fully understand the Jewish context of their faith.

Lamb, a Christian music group from the 1970's was made up of musicians who were  Jewish by birth.

Their music holds a wonderful place for many Christians because...as Jewish men...they well knew Christianity from within their own Jewish backgrounds...and it is clearly reflected in the music they wrote and performed.

In 1972 Messianic Jewish Music released a beautiful song by Lamb called The Sacrifice Lamb.

---------------------------------
1 Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

Surely he took up our pain
    and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
    stricken by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
    each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
    the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed and afflicted,
    yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
By oppression and judgment he was taken away.
Yet who of his generation protested?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
for the transgression of my people he was punished.
He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
nor was any deceit in his mouth.

10 Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.
11 After he has suffered,
    he will see the light of life and be satisfied;
by his knowledge[ my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,
and he will divide the spoils with the strong,
because he poured out his life unto death,
and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.
