If you're a fan of music that combines blues and gospel — today's track will scratch that itch.

Jonny Lang first hit the music scene in 1997 when he was just 15 — with his blues steeped hit Lie To Me .

Lang was among a few young musicians then (like fellow teen Kenny Wayne Shepherd) who were following in the trail-blazing footsteps of Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Lang sang and played guitar with a passion not heard much in popular music then or now although he was struggling in his personal life when he first started out.

According to Wikipedia: 

"After a period of alcoholism and drug use, Jonny Lang became a Christian in 2000, which led him to stop substance abuse. 

In an interview with Sara Groves on Christianity Today, Lang gave details about his conversion, assuring he had a supernatural experience with the Holy Ghost. 

In his own words, he has said that he formerly "hated Christianity" and "despised the things of God", but now he wants to share with others about Jesus' love.

Lang's 2006 album, the gospel-influenced Turn Around, won him his first Grammy Award."

This will be a musical landmark for this blog—its first song with rap in it.  : )

But this track is too awesome not to share—and it's creator is FULL of faith in Jesus and the Fire of His Holy Spirit!

Recently rapper/musician—One Trigga—was interviewed on Salsa - TBN's "Latin" channel.

He told a bit about growing up in a rough neighborhood and selling drugs—but in his heart he was searching for something more.

He related that one day he noticed a woman on the street corner pacing back and forth—and she was "talking to the air."  Then, she came straight for him—and declared that he was "called" and she was there to pray for him.

As she prayed—One Trigga said "yes" to the LORD.

Although he turned to God then—a change in his life wasn't immediately obvious.

He passionately pursued a music career and began having "success" with YouTube videos he was posting—and record labels came calling.

He had a number one hit in the UK—and performed on BET—but says fame was only an illusion—and he was homeless and broke at that time.

Yet—in his heart he was turning more and more to God—but was finding there was a cost—and he was being abandoned by the record industry—and family and friends—and felt completely alone.

A friend offered him a place to stay—(in his gym)—and it was there—at his "lowest" moment—that he completely surrendered to God.

From then on his transformation was dramatic—and his genuine enthusiasm about the Lord and his ministry was obvious in the interview.

At the end of the program—he performed his song, Take Me Around The World—(a reference to the Great Commission given to us by Jesus)—and his music video of it is posted below.

Hezekiah Walker - Every Praise

Hi!

God has been so good to me — leading me to GREAT music that speaks of his Power, Majesty and Love!

Recently — as I wrote in my last post — it seems the flood gates have just opened up — and the music I'm finding is really lifting me up & inspiring me.

In fact, I listened to great praise and worship all day yesterday — and by the time I finally went to bed I was in a fantastic mood — and praising our Heavenly Father.

I Need YOU! - Donnie McClurkin

In the last week or so I found a great program on a local Christian Radio station and wrote a bit about that on my last post here.

Today I was listening to some of music I'd heard on that program — and as a result stumbled upon Donnie McClurkin's - "I Need You."

I've heard of Donnie McClurkin  but don't know if I've ever really heard his music before.

If you give the song a spin — you'll hear he has a rich voice — and the music has a gentle beginning and end — and builds to a powerful middle chorus.

Saturday, August 19th I was driving in my car and flipping between Christian radio stations and soon was singing along to some GREAT music coming from Ms D's Gospel Show on KXEG in Phoenix Arizona.
