Hello brothers and sisters!
I was going through old drafts for this blog—and WAY back at nearly the beginning of it I had started one about this song—Held—from Natalie Grant.
I'm not exactly sure why I didn't post it way back when but when I listened to it again I found it very moving—and this morning when I woke up I had it going through my mind—and felt that it was at long last time to share it here.
I'm always interested in the back-story for songs and found this website entry about the song:

"'Held' is written by a friend of Natalie's, her name is Christa Wells [who related]:
'A few years ago, I was suddenly confronted by three stories of tragic loss: two close friends shared with me the pain of losing a husband and an infant son, respectively, and my mother-in-law shared the heart-wrenching experience of delivering a stillborn baby girl. The faith of these women and their families deeply affected me, and I was struck by one thing they all seemed to be saying: God never promised we'd be exempt from heartache. In fact, He said we would suffer greatly here on earth. But God promises this: He will never leave us. In our most painful moments, we will in fact be 'held' - and find our comfort there. This song was written from the testimonies of these women and intended as a gift to their families; it's been beautiful and amazing to see it reach so many others.' - Christa Wells (author of 'Held'"

Held - Lyrics
Two months is too little
They let him go
They had no sudden healing
To think that providence would take a child from his mother
While she prays, is appalling
Who told us we'd be rescued
What has changed and why should we be saved from nightmares
We're asking why this happens to us
Who have died to live, it's unfair
This is what it means to be held
How it feels when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive
This is what it is to be loved and to know
That the promise was when everything fell
We'd be held
This hand is bitterness
We want to taste it and let the hatred numb our sorrows
The wise hand opens slowly
To lilies of the valley and tomorrow
This is what it means to be held
How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive
This is what it is to be loved and to know
That the promise was when everything fell
We'd be held
If hope if born of suffering
If this is only the beginning
Can we not wait for one hour
Watching for our Savior
This is what it means to be held
How it feels when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive
This is what it is to be loved and to know
That the promise was when everything fell
We'd be held

✝ Romans 10:9-10
9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
---------------------------------
If you've made this decision—believed it in your heart and confessed it with your mouth—let God speak to you by reading the Bible—and seek out fellowship with others who also believe.
Pour out your heart to God in Prayer (simply speaking to Him in reverence)—asking Him to reveal Himself to you and to provide for your needs.
Life in Jesus is the best decision you will ever make.
God Bless You!
