Today's "music-only" video (found below) is a powerful and moving old school Gospel take on a traditional hymn — Blessed Assurance — recorded by Beverly Glenn in 1973.
Glenn's reverential performance is superbly accompanied by talented musicians on piano, guitar, bass and drums — and an excellent backing choir.
According to her website:
Beverly Glenn "composed 150 Gospel songs, an anthem and a Christmas cantata for choir and chamber orchestra. She has 10 albums to her credit as well as recognition in Ebony and Billboard magazines. The cover of her "Take Me Higher" album was nominated for a Dove Award."

Blind from infancy, Crosby "was a poet, lyricist, and composer. She was one of the most prolific hymnists in history, writing more than 8,000 hymns and gospel songs, with more than 100 million copies printed.
She is also known for her teaching and rescue mission work. By the end of the 19th century, she was a household name."
