Hi!
Today—embedded below—you'll find a 'music-only' video from Cochren and Co.—and their song, Church (Take Me Back).
The lyrics tell a familiar story many Christians know: Looking for meaning but finding only emptiness in all the world has to offer. But like the prodigal son of Luke 15:11-32 "coming to his senses"—each of us who are truly called by His name ultimately desire to return to fellowship with other believers—and join in praise and worship to our wonderful Lord and Savior—Jesus the Messiah!

Church (Take Me Back) - Lyrics
There was a time that I swore I would never go back
I was blind to the truth, didn't know what I had
I was running, I was searching
But every place I turned for healing
Left me more broken than the last
Take me back
To the place that feels like home
To the people I can depend on
To the faith that's in my bones
Take me back
To a preacher and a verse
Where they've seen me at my worst
To the love I had at first
Oh, I want to go to church
Tried to walk on my own but I wound up lost
Now I'm making my way to the foot of the cross
It's not a trophy for the winners
It's a shelter for the sinners
And it's right where I belong
Take me back
To the place that feels like home
To the people I can depend on
To the faith that's in my bones
Take me back
To a preacher and a verse
Where they've seen me at my worst
To the love I had at first
Oh, I want to go to church
I want to go to church
Oh, more than an obligation
It's our foundation
The family of God
I know it's hard
But we need each other
We're sisters and brothers
Oh, take me back
To the place that feels like home
To the people I can depend on
To the faith that's in my bones
Take me back
To a preacher and a verse
Where they've seen me at my worst
To the love I had at first
Oh, I want to go to church

✝ Romans 10:9-10
9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
---------------------------------
If you've made this decision—believed it in your heart and confessed it with your mouth—let God speak to you by reading the Bible—and seek out fellowship with others who also believe.
Pour out your heart to God in Prayer (simply speaking to Him in reverence)—asking Him to reveal Himself to you and to provide for your needs.
Life in Jesus is the best decision you will ever make.
God Bless You!

John 14:6 |
Hi Jephyr, this is a lovely post, the song - the scriptures - and your thoughts and words. When we have become a child of God there is no way we want to be away from our brothers and sisters in the Lord, whether it be associating on line or gathering together physically. I have to say that I love both. I love interacting with you and others on the blogs and I love meeting with the believers the Lord has led me to near where I live. Becoming a child of God through believing in Jesus gives us access to the Holy Spirit's guiding and eternal life, as the scripture you have quoted John ch. 14 v.6 states.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have recovered well from your illness. I have had a real chesty cough for a couple of days, but am recovering well now.
God bless you Jephyr.
Thank you so much, Brenda. God has been good and after nearly 2 months I am nearing 100% now. I continue to pray for you and Israel/the church)—and prayers for complete healing from your cough. Yes—fellowship with other believers is so important—and as you wrote—it is wonderful that we can fellowship on-line with believers from around the world! As I'm writing Philippians 1:3-6 has come to my mind:
Delete3 I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Thank as always for your comments and fellowship on our blogs, Brenda
Amen to those scriptures Jephyr.
ReplyDeleteAmen sister! : )
