How Great Thou Art - Carrie Underwood Vince Gill

Video Of Live Performance — And Lyrics Below

Zechariah 9:9

Hi!

Today's musical performance video features a beautiful performance of the great hymn How Great Thou Art by Carrie Underwood Vince Gill during the Academy of Country Music "Girls Night Out" Awards.

Here are some thoughts if either of those names evoke negative feelings:

Sometimes when it comes to Christian music — God's people will look at the musicians and singers involved and judge the music based on their lifestyles and walk.

While I don't disagree that there is some place for that when it comes to who we support with our money (ie: by attending their concerts and purchasing their work, etc.) — we can also sometimes simply rejoice that when entertainers of all kinds sing praises to our Lord and King — regardless of their own personal "walk" or beliefs.

This brings to mind when Jesus entered Jerusalem seated on a colt — the religious leaders told Him to silence the people who were shouting praises to His name.

I love Jesus' reply found in the story about it Luke 19:40:

Luke 19:30-40

Or — in a similar way — the Bible reveals that the High Priest Prophesied when he and the Jewish leaders conferred about killing Jesus:

John 11:49-52
The God breathed Bible is making it clear to us that He can speak about Himself through everyone (and everything)!!

So please give this beautiful tribute to our Lord and Savior by Carrie Underwood and Vince Gill a spin and let it speak to your heart about our Lord's unfailing Grace, Mercy, and Love!

Lyrics Below

How Great Thou Art - Lyrics

O Lord my God,
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;

I see the stars,
I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed

Then sings my soul,
My Savior God, to Thee
How great Thou art,

How great Thou art!

Then sings my soul,

My Savior God, to Thee
How great Thou art,

How great Thou art!

When Christ shall come,
With shout of acclamation
And take me home,
What joy shall fill my heart

Then I shall bow,
In humble adoration
And then proclaim:
"My God, how great Thou art!"

Then sings my soul,
My Savior God, to Thee
How great Thou art,

How great Thou art!

Then sings my soul,

My Savior God, to Thee
How great Thou art,

How great Thou art!

How great Thou art,
How great Thou art!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

May God Richly Bless you!

Jesus is LORD!

Time is growing short!

Seek Him!

Romans 10:9-10

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

  1. Hi Jephyr,
absolutely beautiful. I can never sing or listen to this song without getting emotional. I think the young lady singing was getting emotional too. As for what people think about the singer and the guitarist, none of us will ever please everyone, and it is what is in the heart that counts, not always what we say or do - we all make mistakes.
    God bless you for sharing.

    1. Hi Brenda, Yes I think it was a very moving performance because she was connecting so deeply with that great old hymn. I can only say amen about our human failings — because my Lord knows — I definitely cannot cast any stones at anyone else.

  2. Jephyr,
I have been going through the worst trial that I have ever had, this time with my joints and now my spine. I know many people would think I am crazy, but I know the Lord has told me not to go to the world for help but to Him, and I feel very much that I am in a 'Job' situation. However, once again He spoke to me through His Word to call for the elders to pray for me, and I feel that you are an elder through what you have shared on your blog. God does not have to just be in a building as scripture says He does not live in a house made with hands. I have asked another blogger with a blog called 'No doubt' to pray for me as well, I feel by doing this I am being obedient to the Lord. Thank you Jephyr for your kindness and prayers.

    1. Brenda, I am so sorry to hear about your on-going trial. I think it is awesome that you feel you have heard from the Lord and are waiting only on Him. I've heard many testimonies from people who did as you are — and God did in fact answer them! I will pray for you and am honored that you have asked both now and in the past. Because God is present on-line and communicates to us through His word — I will offer this written prayer from me for you as well: Merciful Father in Heaven, we come boldly before you with a petition to heal Brenda's joints and spine. Comfort her and erase any pain associated with this — give her mobility in her spine and joints and repair whatever is causing this issue. Lord, You knit Brenda together in her mother's womb and know her inside and out — so we place her healing in Your mighty Hands and call upon You our Great Physician to bring Brenda through this trail, and give her complete healing — all for Your Glory!! In the Mighty name above all names, the soon and coming King of kings and Lord of lords — Jesus the Messiah! Amen!! — Brenda I will continue to pray for you. Please let me know if there is anything specifically you would like me to be asking for on your behalf! God Bless you, Comfort you, and Heal you! Amen!

    2. Hi again, Brenda, I'm wondering if it would be alright with you if I made a blog entry here as a call for prayer specifically per your request. I wouldn't go into any detail except what you've shared with me here in the comments. Of course I'd be happy to add or leave anything out you'd prefer. This blog gets visitors from all over the world — and it would multiply our prayers to have join in around the globe. Just let me know what you think. Either way I'm praying for your healing in Jesus Name!

  3. Hi Jephyr, thank you so much for your lovely prayer. Yes, it would be very acceptable to me if you called for prayer, not only for my request but for the Holy Spirit to bring true life into the 'dry bones' of not only physical Israel but also fully into the Spiritual Israel of God - the church. Ezekiel's prophesy is still on-going and we can all be 'signs' and 'portents' as scripture states, and the Spirit will keep us all from backsliding.

    1. You are very welcome Brenda. I've been petitioning our Father for you and believe that He will answer! I'll put together a prayer request post for you asap — and then will comment on your blog to let you know it's done so you can look it over and suggest any edits you'd like. In the meantime I continue to ask our Lord Jesus for healing for you joints and spine — in the name of Jesus and for His Glory! Amen!
