Jonny Lang - I Believe

Music Only Video Below

John 14:1-6 - Painting: Salvador Dali - The Last Supper - 1955

Hello!

If you're a fan of music that combines blues and gospel — today's track will scratch that itch.

: )

Jonny Lang first hit the music scene in 1997 when he was just 15 — with his blues steeped hit Lie To Me .

Lang was among a few young musicians then (like fellow teen Kenny Wayne Shepherd) who were following in the trail-blazing footsteps of Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Lang sang and played guitar with a passion not heard much in popular music then or now although he was struggling in his personal life when he first started out.

According to Wikipedia

"After a period of alcoholism and drug use, Jonny Lang became a Christian in 2000, which led him to stop substance abuse.

In an interview with Sara Groves on Christianity Today, Lang gave details about his conversion, assuring he had a supernatural experience with the Holy Ghost.

In his own words, he has said that he formerly "hated Christianity" and "despised the things of God", but now he wants to share with others about Jesus' love.

Lang's 2006 album, the gospel-influenced Turn Around, won him his first Grammy Award."

God is good!

Below you'll find a "music-only" video of Lang's I Believe, from the compilation Album Oh Happy Day — where Jonny makes a clear declaration of his faith set to a Gospel bluesy track.

I pray his music Blesses you and fills your heart with the awesome Love and Peace found only through our wonderful Savior — Jesus the Messiah!

I Believe — Lyrics

I believe just what he said!

(I believe)

Oh! I'm gonna have my mansion there

(I believe — I believe — I believe)

I'm gonna have my mansion there

(I believe)

Well I believe just what He said!

Because he made a way for me

(I believe — I believe — I believe)

Yeah when He died on Calvary

(I believe)

Well I believe just what He said!

Oh! He broke off all my chains

(I believe — I believe — I believe)

OH! And all the guilt is gone away

(I believe)

I believe just what He said!

(By faith I believe)

I believe!

(By faith I receive)

I receive it!

(By faith I can have it)

I can have it!

(By faith I can share it)

Share it!

(I believe just what He said)

(By faith I will know it)

(By faith I will show it)

(By faith I will carry — and now I can bear it)

I believe just what He said!

I believe! repeats

Well I believe just what He said!

I believe just what He said!

I believe every Word — every Word He said!!!

Romans 10:9-10

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

  1. Jephyr I love this post you have put up, the song is beautiful. I have it on and I think even my neighbours would love it as they hear it through my window. I know from my own experience that if you have empathy then you have sympathy. I regret nothing in my life because if I had not experienced certain things in my life I would not have understood what others have been through.
What you share on here is lovely and I know that God has called you to do it.
    God bless you and yours.

    1. Hi Brenda, I'm very pleased you enjoyed this post and this song. :)

I agree so much — that what we come through definitely helps us have compassion for others regarding the trials they're facing.

Thank you for your kind encouragement about this blog too.

I hope all is well for you and your loved ones and that God is Blessing and keeping you surrounded with His Love!

    2. Yes Jephyr, all is well in the Lord.
I am going through another trial at this moment in time but trials strengthen us and I will continue to say 'I will love You O Lord my strength. It is amazing how that Word has the power to bring into existence that which does not exist when we take every thought captive and bring it into obedience to that Word that has been spoken to us. The enemy is cunning and tries to question God's Word through the carnal mind, but we have the mind of Christ and there is only One winner if we continue to trust. It is strange, but not strange, that my computer speakers have the word 'Trust' on them.
God bless you and yours Jephyr.

    3. Hi Brenda,

I'm so sorry to hear about your trial. I pray that God will lift you and encourage you as you pass through it — and am happy to hear that you are still holding onto His promises.

As I go through trials I'm encouraged by 2 Corinthians 4:17 where it calls them "brief momentary afflictions preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison."

But I'm also well aware that as we go through them they can seem overwhelming to us...so I pray for your strength and comfort during this time!

If there is anything I can pray for specifically please let me know. My email is listed along the right on my "art" blog if you'd prefer to keep that out of the comments.

God Bless you in Jesus name Brenda
